Finalists announced for the inaugural Book Illustration Competition

House of Illustration and The Folio Society are delighted to announce the finalists in their inaugural Book Illustration Competiton, ‘Getting inside The Outsider‘.

The judging panel, which included renowned illustrator and House of Illustration trustee Quentin Blake, writer and actor Simon Callow, and award winning illustrator Laura Carlin, have chosen a shortlist of six illustrators from the 650 competition entrants.

The competition was launched in October 2010, and asked entrants to produce a series of illustrations for The Folio Society’s new edition of the The Outsider by Albert Camus.

The winner, who has won a £4000 commission to complete the illustrations for the book, will be announced at an awards ceremony on July 4th where the new edition will also be unveiled. The five runners-up will each receive a cash prize of £500.

Find out more about the shortlisted illustrators below, and view their entries in our Online Exhibition.
