We are using Flickr, the photo-sharing website, to display your entries to the competition. To find out more see What is Flickr?
To Enter the Competition
Step One: Make your own ‘What Are You Like?’ artwork
Describe yourself with images of your 8 favourite things from this list:
- favourite animal
- book
- clothes
- comfort
- food
- pastime
- place
- possession
- music
- shoes
- weather
- pet aversion (the thing you most love to hate!)
You can make your artwork in any medium – e.g. drawing, painting, collage, sculpture – as long as it results in a still image that can be loaded onto Flickr. Please put all 8 of your favourite things on one page.
Step Two: Either scan your work, or photograph it with a digital camera or mobile phone.
Step Three: Join Flickr
If you are not already signed up to Flickr, sign up now. You will need a Yahoo ID.
Step Four: Join the ‘House of Illustration’ group
We run a ‘House of Illustration’ group in Flickr and you are welcome to join it! Any suitable artwork that you send to the group will be displayed on the group's site and maybe on the House of Illustration website too. Please make sure that you follow the competition rules and submit just one image. Other group members can comment on your artwork and you can say what you think about theirs. To join you will need to read our competition terms and conditions, Flickr's community guidelines, and Yahoo!'s terms of service too. Join the ‘House of Illustration’ Flickr group.
Step Five: Upload your artwork
Upload your image to your Flickr account.
Step Six: Tag your artwork
Tag your image with "hoiwayl".
Step Seven: We check your entry
Once you have submitted your entry it will go into a queue to be moderated. When it has been approved you will be able to see it on the House of Illustration Group site.
Step Eight: Submit your artwork to the group
Click the button marked ‘Send to Group’. Choose ‘House of Illustration’ That’s it!
Each week we’ll pick our favourite entry and display it on Flickr and the News page of the HOI website. We might also put it in our newsletter.
Closing date: 9 December 2008. On 15 December we’ll announce the final winners!
