A choice of seven inspiring illustrator-led workshops for KS 3 - 5

Come and be inspired by our exhibitions and participate in an illustrator-led practical workshop supporting Art and Design, Design Technology and English with cross-curricular opportunities. See below for how to book.

Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for up to 30 students.
10am – 12.30pm or 12.30pm – 3pm. We may be able to change these times if they don't suit your needs.

Cost: £175 per class or £300 for two classes in one day (state schools); £295 per class or £550 for two classes in one day (independent schools)
This includes teachers and adult helpers, gallery entry, gallery activities and teachers' notes where available.

Students will develop their creative and art and design skills. Workshops can and also support English teaching and learning, and other subjects and topics. We tailor our workshops to your needs wherever possible. Please let us know when booking if there is a text you would like us to reference in the workshop.
A 2.5 hour visit comprises 1 hour in the gallery and 1.5 hours practical workshop using a variety of media. Please choose from:

1. Character Design
A step-by-step guide to creating unique characters as a springboard for creative writing, or in response to any text.

2. Pop-Up Illustration
Learn a range of paper engineering techniques and create an illustration that comes to life, on any theme of your choice.

3. Sequential Illustration
Be guided through the process of sequential illustration to create instructions, before-and-after or a story with a structure.

4. Creating Mood and Atmosphere
Illustrators will help students create an illustration with the appropriate mood and atmosphere for any topic or text.

5. Poster Design
Get a message across visually, using images and typography - whether it's for a school event or an important discussion topic.

6. Editorial Illustration Challenge
“Real World” Brief - this workshop takes your students through a fast-paced illustration challenge from rough to final, relating to a real news story.

7. Fashion Illustration
Be guided through the process of creating exciting, original fashion illustrations by a professional fashion illustrator. Subject to her availability.
