Learning is at the heart of the House of Illustration and we reach out to teachers and pupils, young people and families though our schools programme, youth projects, activities and events.
We have run our pioneering schools programme ‘PICTURE IT’ since 2009 in primary schools across London and in 2012 with support from the Wellcome Trust we delivered our new education programme ‘Illustrating Science’ in three schools. See here to view the resulting outcomes and teaching resources. ‘Picturing Poetry’ is a recent poetry and illustration project we have delivered in two Islington primary schools.
Alongside these projects we have successfully collaborated with The Big Draw, Pop Up Festival, The Hunterian Museum, Design Museum and The British Library, providing drawing providing drawing workshops for both families and adults.
Find out more about PICTURE IT: Inspiration through Illustration in the PICTURE IT section, and see the amazing illustrations produced through PICTURE IT workshops in the Image Gallery.
