Fashion illustration can communicate a cerebral aesthetic, a personal styling, tribal uniform or daily armour. The clothes we wear partly define who we are or want to be. In this masterclass, individuals will be encouraged to dress up or down for the occasion and to observe and to draw each other. We will also have a professional model for further inspiration.
The masterclass is timed to coincide with our current exhibition, Jo Brocklehurst: Nobodies and Somebodies. Jo Brocklehurst documented subculture in 1970-90s London, Berlin and New York, drawing the poeple - and their clothes - whose experiments with sex, androgyny and couture later inspired the mainstream fashion collections of Jean Paul Gaultier.
Montana Forbes is a fashion, beauty and lifestyle illustrator who studied Visual Communication with a focus on Art History, Photography and Graphic Design whose work is inspired by an underlying interest in the psychology of fashion and narrative of individual style.
This masterclass aims to expand the narrow views of fashion illustration and encourage a fun, experimental and bold expression of ideas.
