Family workshop: Summer fun with paint

Illustrate your summer - with paint! A family workshop with illustrator Anna Rumsby

When, Where

Come to House of Illustration (On Sea!) this August, where we’re creating a hand-drawn ice-cream parlour, setting up a fan-painting station, and building a summery still-life – all in our Clore Studio.

  • Paint your own stylish Japanese fan to take home and keep cool with this summer
  • Mix up a delicious ice-cream flavour for the parlour, hand-print your own cone and stick your painted illustration creations on our ice cream parlour wall drawing
  • Paint an animal from the still-life jungle – our tropical centrepiece

Anna Rumsby, author/illustrator of ‘The Painting-In Book’, leads this fun, colourful, paint-based workshop for children and their families.

Your tickets (buy child tickets below and accompanying adult tickets in person on the day) include exhibition entry. Get inspired by the gorgeously bright colours in our current exhibition, Jacqueline Ayer: Drawing on Thailand, and by the watercolour and guache drawings in Anime Architecture: Backgrounds of Japan.

Wear old clothes and prepare to get messy with paint!

Please note that Family Workshops may only be attended by children (aged 5-12) with accompanying parents/carers. Children must be accompanied at all times. Adults who are not accompanying children will not be admitted.

Child tickets must be purchased in advance, and adult tickets are £7.50 and should be purchased on the day.
