For our current exhibition, Lucinda Rogers: On Gentrification, we commissioned artist Lucinda Rogers to create a new series of works in response to urban development in East London. Over four months she visited Dalston's 150-year-old Ridley Road Market to draw its life and architecture. The exhibition contrasts scenes from the market with views of the exclusive high-rise in construction opposite.
Lucinda Rogers joins us to discuss the practice of reportage (drawing on location directly from life) and how she uses documentary drawing as a critical medium for debate to explore the theme of a changing London.
The conversation will be hosted by Mark Harris, Lecturer in Fine Art at Goldsmiths.
