Jake Green: The Bookmaker's Studio

A photographic exploration of the working spaces of leading contemporary picture book creators

When, Where

Get a rare glimpse into the studios of some of today's most exciting children's illustrators, in this new photographic series by London-based photographer Jake Green.

From London, Bristol and Nottingham to Paris, Brussels and New York, The Bookmaker's Studio invites us inside the studios and creative processes of leading picture book creators, and reveals the range of mediums they work in – from lino cutting to water colouring, collage to finger painting.

Illustrators involved in the project include Kitty Crowther, Hervé Tullet, Oliver Jeffers, Beatrice Alemagna, Luke Pearson, Maggie Li, Owen Davey, Benji Davies, Katja Spitzer, Yasmeen Ismail, Joëlle Jolivet, Laura Carlin, Jürg Lindenberger and Chris Haughton.

The series, along with quotes from each of the illustrators from interviews by writer James Cartwright, has also been compiled into a book, successfully funded by a recent Kickstarter campaign. The Bookmaker's Studio book is available to buy from in the House of Illustration shop.
