About the course:
This exciting, new, four week course is ideal for those who are keen on improving and expanding their drawing skills, including complete beginners.
Focusing on four ‘keys’ that can help unlock the world of illustration, award-winning illustrator and educator Merlin Strangeway will guide you through the fundamentals of:
Week 1: Line (ways of seeing)
Week 2: Form (shading, shapes, perspective)
Week 3: Colour (mood and atmosphere)
Week 4: Composition (narrative and pacing)
Unwind at the end of the day and meet like-minded people as you explore your creative side. Ideal for the beginner, the curious or art graduates who crave a structured approach to the art of drawing.
About the tutor:
Merlin specialises in scientific illustration, and currently holds the post of Medical Illustrator in Residence at Guy’s Pathology Museum, Kings College London. She has taught students of all ages for House of Illustration since 2011, lectured internationally and taught at numerous art colleges, schools and universities across the UK. Her previous clients include Tate Modern, The British Library, Design Museum, Central Saint Martins, NHS, John Lewis, Bloomsbury Books, Latitude Festival and Time Out. Visit Merlin's website.
