A ten-week short illustration course taking place on Sundays from 23 April to 2 July 2017 (please note there will be no class on 28 May).
Through a series of short exercises, activities, demonstrations and lectures you will experience a combination of learning about special drawing systems (such as perspective), how to construct images of real places and iconic buildings, working from photographic imagery and on location as well as exploring your imagination to create images of places from scratch.
The tutor will bring to it experience of teaching drawing and illustration at a variety of levels, long experience of teaching location drawing as well as his own experience of landscape painting and drawing and commercial illustration.
This is very much a hands on course that will explore useful, accessible, fun and occasionally surprising ways to depict places on paper, employing drawing, collage, stenciling, watercolor and gouache painting.
We will also look at and take inspiration from the work of a variety illustrator and the methods they employ to create their worlds.
This course is aimed at beginners and intermediate students, who want to do a course for their own pleasure as well as those who wish to add to their portfolio and broaden their illustration development.
So if you have little illustrating experience it will give you the tools to begin to explore the subject with more confidence.
If you have some experience it will help you build upon what you know and encourage you to explore and experiment further and if you have experience illustrating other subject matter it will help you to transfer some of those skills to this subject matter and add to them.
